Thoughts on masks

I know I haven't been on this blog in forever.  To quickly catch up, I've been pregnant 5 times and have 2 living children.  I have some thoughts about the whole masking thing that's going on now, and I needed an outlet, so here I am.

Firstly, if you're sick, you shouldn't even be out and about to worry about having a mask on, unless you're going to the doctor, so there's that.  Don't be an idiot.

Secondly, if you're not sick and are wearing a mask, you're not "saving a life."  You're not sick.  All you're doing is saving everyone from your morning breath.  Or your after-lunch onion breath.

Thirdly, people who should be masking?
  • Hair stylists and manicurists.  They're in close proximity with people for a prolonged amount of time and if sick people are idiots and are going out for a mani/pedi, a mask on everyone will be double protection against the virus.
  • Healthcare workers, for obvious reasons.  If I worked in direct patient care, I would be masking up for all kinds of reasons: flu season, stomach bug, etc.
  • Anyone else who deals with the public face-to-face for longer than a few seconds (bank tellers, realtors, customer service, etc.) because people are dumb (see above about not being an idiot.)
  • Compromised individuals (or people who live with compromised individuals) who need to go out of the house.  Because, again, we can't trust everyone to not be idiots.
Also, for the record, COVID-19 does not spontaneously appear.  If no one is sick at a church, no one's in danger.  The virus does not seek out crowds like a heat-seeking missile.  If I accidentally stand too close to you (long shot, but you never know) the virus doesn't magically spawn.  It's not omniscient or sentient; it's a virus.

I would like for everyone to be as vigilant about symptoms, masking, and quarantining as they are now when flu season comes around, because the same principals should exist for any virus that has a death toll.

Manicuring has changed...I guess

All of the nail pages/YouTubers I follow have been capping the free end of the nail.  This is a new concept for me.  When I was in beauty school we learned to "feather edge," which meant taking the orange wood stick wrapped in cotton over the free edge to remove any polish that as there.  That was supposed to help prevent chipping.  Now, all the nail people say that capping the free edge helps prevent chipping.

So I'm doing an experiment.  Because most of my nails are pretty short, I knew it would be hard for me to get the free edge without getting a ton of polish on my skin.  So I took some nail forms and did one hand at a time.  It was annoying and messy, but I'm interested to see if it keeps my polish from chipping longer than my usual way.

These pictures were taken on day 2 of the manicure after I washed my hands all day at work and gave Violet a bath.  I have one little chip or wear mark on my left thumb.

We'll see what happens.

I'm my own worst enemy

September 28, 2017.  I took a pregnancy test because my period was late.  It was positive.  October 2, I made the announcement on Facebook.  October 5, I had my first doctor's appointment and they scheduled my first ultrasound for the 18th.  October 11, I spent a couple hours in the ER with bleeding and the doctor told me I'm probably having a miscarriage.

I hate to admit, but this whole pregnancy (all two and half weeks of it), I had a horrible feeling that something would go wrong.  I held off on telling my students at Penn Highlands, which I'm thankful for now.

I thought since I had gone through the worst thing that could happen already (losing Matthew) that I was immune from anything else happening.  And now, I'm my own worst enemy.  I'm telling myself everything you're not supposed to say when someone has a miscarriage.

Did I jinx myself by announcing it so early?  Was it because I kept thinking something would go wrong that something DID go wrong?  At least I know I can get pregnant.  At least I have Violet.  At least it happened early on and not later.  Was it something I did?  Maybe I carried Violet too much.  Maybe I didn't eat well enough.  Maybe it's because I follow all kind of baby loss pages on Facebook.  Was it because of my stomach surgery?

Obviously, I realize it has nothing to do with anything I did, but you can't help thinking that.  I tortured myself with what I had done when we got Matthew's diagnosis, even though my doctors assured me it was just a fluke.

And I don't mind that I announced it early and now have to announce the sad news.  Too often, miscarriages are taboo.  No one talks about them, even though 1 in 4 woman have had one.  I want others to know they're not alone.  Just like I don't mind talking about my PCOS and fertility issues.  Anytime I can raise awareness for these issues, I do.

I'm supposed to go to my OB/Gyn on Monday to get another HCG level drawn, but I might see if they'll let me get it done tomorrow sometime.  My HCG levels should be doubling every 48-72 hours.  Mine was only 183 last night at the ER and they couldn't see anything on the ultrasound.

Updates

I haven't been here in a while.  A lot has gone on.  Thanksgiving 2015 Chris and I announced that we were pregnant again.  This baby was a girl and she was due on July 26th.  She came 10 days early via C section (she has a huge head.)  Her name is Violet Mae and she's a ball of fun and energy.  So, I haven't had much time to sit down and write.

I took down the Fibrous Dysplasia page because, after the nuclear bone scan I had three years ago and recent CT scans of my abdomen (see the Morgagni Hernia page), I'm fairly certain Altoona hospital misdiagnosed me seven or eight years ago when they said that's what I had.

I'm not going to make any promises about keeping this blog up, but I hate to let it sit there since I've had a blog for 16 years now.  We'll see.

Mrs. Dean Winchester

Last night, I had a dream that I was married to Dean Winchester.  Not the actor who plays him (Jensen Ackles) but the character himself.  I went to a Christmas party with friends and was mad at Dean for something so I decided I was going to cheat on him.  I went to a website on my phone where you could "buy" an Italian guy who was in prison.  I ordered one and waited for him to be delivered.  I told one of the other girls at the party that I would only keep him if he were cute.  Turned out he was cute (tall, dark curly hair) and really young.  I can't remember his name, but he only spoke a little English.  He came with a note stating what was wrong with him (he had something wrong with his brain that messed up his balance or something) and, unbeknownst to me, developed a crush on another girl at the party.  Somehow, Dean found out about all this and said he was swinging by.  I panicked and told everyone to say that the Italian guy was the new dishwasher I hired.  Dean came and was making his rounds at the party and guilt overwhelmed me.  I ran up to him while he was talking, put my hands on his waist, and said, "Dean, can I talk to you for a moment?"  He said yeah and we walked away from the party.  I started crying and hugging him, the realization that I was married to freakin' Dean Winchester finally sinking in, and apologized for my stupid moment.

My Tumblr Outrage

Editor's note: I don't normally blog about anything really political, but this was weighing on me this past week.

I saw a post on Pinterest that was actually a screen grab from Tumblr, which is 90% of what you find on Pinterest now anyway.  I’m somewhat thankful for this as I don’t like logging on to Tumblr; I feel the same way about it as I do Twitter.  It’s a waste of time and any website where ISIS is able to have an account deserves to be shut down.  Not to mention, Tumblr especially seems to be a breeding ground for young Liberals-in-the-making.

I read the other day this user’s account of one of their college professors explaining privilege.  He put a trash can at the front of the class room and told everyone to crumple a piece of paper into a ball.  Whoever made a basket with their ball would automatically get an A…or something like that.  Immediately, there was outrage.  What about the people sitting in the back?  They were at a disadvantage.  They couldn’t possibly make the trashcan from back there.  The professor continued stating that’s what privilege is: being in the front of the class room.

::Taking a deep breath::  This bothered me on many levels.  One, for the fact that this is what college professors are teaching to our future leaders.  Two, this is clearly implementing circular reasoning which Wikipedia even states is a “logical fallacy.”  In circular reasoning, something is assumed to be true.  In the case of this professor’s example, the assumption is that everyone deserves an A.  Anyone who’s ever been to any kind of school knows that not everyone deserves an A.  For instance, I was forced to take a “spiritual” class since I attended a Catholic college.  I, admittedly, half-assed my way through learning about Saint Francis and got a C.  Frankly, I feel like I deserved to fail for as little effort I put into the class, but volunteering was a big chunk and that bumped me up to a C.

We find circular reasoning other places, too.  For instance, carbon dating.  Scientist and the like use carbon dating to “prove” evolution, but they’re assuming that their reference data is in fact true, when there’s no way they could be absolutely certain because evolution and the Big Bang (and Creation) are theories not facts…and they weren’t alive back then!

So, going back to the privilege analogy: the very concept of privilege is circular reasoning because it assumes everyone deserves –fill in the blank--.  Lots of money, a big house, a nice car, etc.  That’s called entitlement, not privilege, which is going to be the bigger problem with our nation’s youth.  The only privilege we Americans have is being born in America.

I’m sure if people in third world countries could log on to Tumblr and read the teen-angst filled posts about no gender neutral characters in Harry Potter and how “un-privileged” they are because their parents don’t own their own private jet, they’d want to stab themselves in the eye with the one piece of cutlery they (possibly) own.  I’m sure it’ll warm their hearts to read complaints of (gasp) having to wear hand-me-downs or second-hand clothes.  Do you know what kids in third world countries wear?  I’ll tell you.

The Superbowl has been going on for years; not sure of the specific number because I hate football, but you get the drift.  Every year, thousands, possibly millions, of t-shirts, hats, and other memorabilia are stamped out (probably from a factor in China).  Half with one team as the champ, the other half with the other team.  So, when the one team wins, their stuff gets passed out, but what happens to the other half?  The one with the losing team?  It gets shipped to people in impoverished nations, who probably don’t even know what football is, let alone the Superbowl.

It also bothers me how much hate I see on Tumblr towards America.  There’s a lot of America bashing; some of it towards our language, of all things.  Here’s the gist of the many posts on Tumblr: “The English language beats up other languages in dark alleys, then rifles through their pockets for loose grammar and spare vocabulary.”  There’s also another post floating around that asks the question when we lost our British accents.  Someone replies with the idea that British people took on their accent as a symbol of a higher class; meaning, the American accent is of lower class.

Is any of that true?  I don’t know.  I don’t have the kind of time it would take to research that.  I wish I did.  I wish my brain was an encyclopedia of world history so I could go on Tumblr and tear these kids a new one, but, alas, I have to work.  Because normal people realize nothing in life is guaranteed, even life itself, and so one must work for a living.

America is the best country to live in, especially for a woman, so I get really mad when I see feminist groups on Tumblr complaining about cat calls or not casting a girl in a Legos ad.  At least we’re not being forcibly circumcised and/or have our vaginas sewed shut.  Yeah, that really happens.  I’m not sure if this is still a thing, but in China, a family was only allowed to have one daughter.  If you had another one, that baby is either aborted or killed after birth (which is NOT a woman’s reproductive “right,” but that’s for another blog post).  China is feeling the repercussions now as there are way more Chinese men than women; 30 million more was the figure stated in one article I read.  That’s a lot of bachelor pads.

I went to a private school, and before you bring up any kind of privilege argument with that, know this: my mother taught there and we were allowed to go for free.  That’s the only way we were able to go, otherwise, I would’ve been in public school (where I had gone up until 3rd grade.)  Every year around Christmas we, as a school, took a shoebox and filled it with necessities for kids in third world countries.  While kids in America were making their Christmas lists for iPods and new Nikes, we were buying things like socks, toothbrushes, and underwear for these poor kids.  I always made sure I included pens, pencils, and paper for my little girl.  I wanted her to be able to write, if she could.  And if not, then draw.  Maybe it would take her mind off the fact she was in need of fresh water.

It pains me almost physically to think of the natives of impoverished countries and if they ever even glimpsed at how much we as a society complain about things in America.  We’ve all seen at least one Indian woman in the news who was victim to an acid attack for one stupid reason or another.  There’s pictures online of a girl who escaped from North Korea talking about how she witnessed her mother being raped and believed the government could read her thoughts.  But, no.  Go on, Tumblr users, and please complain more about how J K Rowling should’ve made George “gender fluid” (I still have yet to comprehend what that entails) and post more pictures of your nipples because, heaven forbid, whipping your boobs out in public is frowned upon.  (Something has to be left to the imagination.)

I’m not saying this makes any slight to women ok.  I’m not saying that because it’s better here that nothing’s wrong.  So, what am I saying?  In the case of the America bashing and outrage against cis people (you may have to look that word up) and the new nipple exposure movement, I’m saying (literally, in the latter case) calm your tits.  You’re alive, you (obviously) have a computer, you’re getting some kind of an education, and all of that puts you way ahead and way more privileged than people in Nicaragua, who most likely are wearing 80’s sweater dresses.  Not because they’re back in style, but because that’s what the missionaries bring over: the crap that no one else wants.

Bad days

I brought in some pictures of Matthew today at work to put on my bulletin board.  It brought back a wave of emotions.  I broke down a few times today and cried in my office.  I miss him.  It hurts me to think that it was somehow my fault, the Trisomy diagnosis.  I realize it isn't, but I can't help feeling like it is and why did it have to be my baby it happened to?

"God gave to me a child in part"

God gave to me a child in part,
Yet wholly gave the father's heart:
Child of my soul, O whither now,
Unborn, unmothered, goest thou?

You came, you went, and no man wist;
Hapless, my child, no breast you kist;
On no dear knees, a privileged babbler, clomb,
Nor knew the kindly feel of home.

My voice may reach you, O my dear-
A father's voice perhaps the child may hear;
And, pitying, you may turn your view
On that poor father whom you never knew.

Alas! alone he sits, who then,
Immortal among mortal men,
Sat hand in hand with love, and all day through
With your dear mother wondered over you.

It's finally happened!

I know it's been a while since I posted here, but I didn't have much to say.  Just the same whining about life and how it sucks.  Chris got fired back in November and we've been barely staying afloat since.  We got a new kitty, one that my sister-in-law had rescued and they were giving away.  Her name is Pumpkin and she's super cute!

Barbara, a friend of mine at work, got me using an app called Zombie 5k.  It's pretty awesome.  I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to train to run/jog.  It was always something I wished I could do, and with this app, it not only trains you to eventually run a 5k, but it also puts you into the story and will mix in your own music.

Anyway, I had been doing the Zombie run for about a month, and, to be honest, I only really started it to see if losing weight would help me get pregnant.  Since the clomid hadn't worked alone or with metformin, I figured I'd give running a shot before I started on some crazy vegan diet or something.  So, a month of walking/running and then there comes a night where my boobs hurt to much to do it.  Granted, my boobs have been hurting a lot since I stopped clomid (which I took as a good sign that my hormones were finally in line) so it wasn't anything new.  But I just felt...super bloated?  I guess you could describe it that way.  I started the program but ended it early two or three times.

The following week, I got two nosebleeds, which is weird for me.  I never get nosebleeds.  I also couldn't sit with my pants buttoned.  I began to suspect I was pregnant, but then again, I always suspect that and I'm always wrong.

My period was supposed to come on August 31st, which was when my family's Labor Day picnic was.  So, I went prepared to get my period at any moment, especially if I went in the pool.  One 4th of July at the same aunt's house, my period was late and I was all excited to only find it had started after I got out of the pool.  Yay.

I had such a strong feeling, though, that night I couldn't sleep.  I actually got up at 2 AM and found a cheap-o pregnancy test that I was sure was expired.  I peed in a cup and dipped the tester in.  Two lines showed up.  I was shaking.  I quickly took a picture and sent it to Barbara (because I knew it wouldn't wake her up.)  After that, it was really hard to go back to sleep, but eventually I did.

I had to work the next morning and stopped and got Tylenol (for my lack-of-sleep headache) and prenatal vitamins.  I sent the picture I took the night before to Chris and he had no idea what it was.  So I told him.  "It's positive.  It says I'm pregnant."  He told me not to get my hopes up, like the so many other times I have and then been let down.  We went grocery shopping later after work and I grabbed a digital test.  He wanted me to wait until morning, but I couldn't, so I took it right after we got back from the store.  It clearly said "Pregnant."

Long story short, today I am ten weeks and going to have a sonogram tomorrow.  I've been thinking about taking a belly pic, but I was fat to begin with, so not sure how good it would be.  People have been telling me that I'm losing weight, which I'm not sure how to feel about that.

My Supernatural dream

I got caught up on the new Supernatural episode last night, which in turn fueled a weird dream.  Satan had taken over a warehouse and stationed himself in the center via spider webs.  As if that weren't creepy enough, he was surrounded by every kind of monster known to man and they were killing all the humans.  Someone cut a small piece of Satan's leg or pants off to make Sam meld into him (Sam was originally Satan's vessel) and something else happened to Dean, I can't remember.  Anyway, there was no one to save us from Satan.  There was a restaurant in the warehouse and Satan cast a spell over it to make it look normal.  A group of heroes (probably absorbed from my playing Diablo III last night as well) traveled to the warehouse to defeat Satan.  They knew how to kill all the various monsters and they did, but some of the monsters were kids.  There was a separate monster fight where I was fighting, too, but it was very disjointed and complicated; I don't remember much of it, other than it was husbands killing their new brides.  The heroes made it to the floor with the restaurant and they walked into the trap Satan had lain.  Most of them died.

Not sure what happened after that, but suddenly we were in a war and Crowley (the "king" of hell) was on our side (kinda like the episode I watched.)  People were out to kill him and I was sad because I liked him.  There was also some side business of my trying to find a new house to live in and then moving everything in and decorating.  I ended up at a hotel where we were all gathered to prepare for the war.  They caught Crowley, but I created a distraction so he could get away.

The next thing I know, we were headed to a cave where it was rumored Dean had been.  The cave floor was covered in wet sand and I found a digital camera half-buried.  There were pictures and videos of Dean, but he still didn't believe he had been there, because the rumor was he had run away with another man.  Somehow, this other man found out where Dean was and wanted to join him in the "alternate" world (I guess, TV world?)  His family from the real world was chasing him and he shot them with a grenade launcher.

Memories

Nothing like working on a weekend to get my mind wandering.  For some reason, I started remembering stuff from high school and right after graduation.

In HS, Katie's on-again-off-again boyfriend Timmy had a pager.  At the time, it was cool to have a pager, but also, only drug dealers had them.  Anyway, I used to page him with the numbers 1134, which, if you hold the pager right, says "hell."  Katie hated it.  But, what didn't she hate?

Then I thought about the time I was on third shift at NAC and Chris McConnell, who was in my brother's class, was our temp floor guy.  We got to talking (he also used to date Katie) and decided to hang out.  Katie caught wind and invited herself along.  I warned her that my car's AC wasn't working and it was a heat wave (and the car had leather seats.)  She ignored the warning and we picked her up.  She complained the whole time about how hot it was.  We stopped at McDonald's and she had someone come pick her up because she was too hot.  Chris and I ended up going to another classmate's house to hang out with more school kids.  Katie again caught word of it and wanted to hang out, too, but didn't want to use her gas to drive there herself (this was 2004, 2005...gas was what then?  Like, nothing?) so she spent hours calling around asking for a ride.  Chris and I ended up leaving because we had to go to work, and as we're driving down the lane, doesn't Katie come driving up next to us.  And, she was mad that we were leaving and we didn't tell her we were going to Amy's and blah blah blah.  All the while, my husband at the time calls and finds out I'm driving around with Chris and goes bonkers.  I tried telling him that I've known Chris forever and he was in my brother's grade and, therefore, is like a brother to me, but the ex-asshole is an ex for a number of reasons.

New tattoo!

Chris put money aside (or at least that's what he thinks...we spent a little more than we should've) for my birthday so I could get a tattoo. The new girl at work knew of this reasonably priced guy in Indiana so I made an appointment with him and me and Jenn drove the hour or so trip. It was hard trying to decide what to get but then it hit me: I promised myself my next tattoo would be a tribute to my favorite children's book A Child's Garden of Verses by (Google Affiliate Ad)illustrated by Susan Bonners. It's a tree from the Land of Nod illustration and two lines from the poem.

I have a hot ass

Literally. I'm sitting on my heating pad because my tail bone aches like the dickens. I'm not sure if I sat on it wrong when I was vegging yesterday watching Doctor Who and doing laundry or if it's just my stupid fibrous dysplasia. When I was 15 or 16, for a whole year my tail bone ached. I specifically remember in church, we had Sunday school in the basement and we were basically sitting on those white plastic lawn chairs. After sitting for so long, then standing up, I almost cried my tail bone hurt so badly. I never was able to figure out why it hurt back then, until I was diagnosed.

The forehead looks pretty much the same. Still has the line down the middle and dots where each stitch was. I bought a new silicone sheet since I lost half of mine, and at my latest derm appointment, the nurse scheduled me for some sort of laser treatment to get rid of the redness. I was too tired at the time to think, but I need to call them and ask if my insurance will cover that or not.

For my birthday, Chris said he would give me $200 for a tattoo. I told the girls at work that we should all go get tattoos and we got in touch with an artist about an hour away. He did a tat for the new girl and it looks really good and it was pretty cheap. My one coworker faxed him all of our tattoo ideas to get them priced, but I need to text her and ask if he got back to her. He initially said he was booked up until July, but, come on, it's my birthday!

Slowly fading

Do you see what I meant in my last post about the line? There's a space in the middle that smooths over, but I'm starting to think that's an eczema patch, as it's super itchy and rough feeling. Thought just occurred to me: hopefully it's not the skin cancer grown back already. If it is eczema, I think it's from the new Palmer's scar oil stuff I've been using these past couple days. When I get home, I'm going to wash my face and put the silicone patches on and maybe do Vaseline in the morning. (Had to work this weekend. Got my homework done today because it was so slow.)

The girl I'm working with/training this weekend smokes and I walked down the hall after she came back from a smoke break. The smell reminded me of my grandma's old apartment building when I was younger. We went there every summer and spent the night. Somehow, I'd always end up in the room with the creepy dolls. I remember hearing crickets outside the window as I tried to fall asleep in this strange place. I don't think I ever walked in my sleep there, though. I have a habit of sleep walking/talking when I'm sleeping in a new environment, unless it's a hotel. I love hotels, don't ask me why. Not too sure myself why I love them.

Want. To. Scratch. Forehead.

Silicone patches

Taken a couple days ago:

Last night, I stopped putting Vaseline on my wound and started with the Dr. Blaine's Scar Repair silicone patch (which I had to cut to make it fit on my ginormous forehead). When I took it off this morning, you could see the line down my forehead, like someone took a light pencil and drew it down the middle of the wound. It still looks like that and I would take a picture, but I'm at work and taking selfies at work (with other people around) is weird. I think I'm able to make more faces, seeing as every time I make one my forehead hurts. I can definitely feel the skin pulling. On the 14th, I'll start massaging it to make sure the stitches inside it broke up.

Oh yes! I finally got my refund, if I haven't said that already. We bought a sectional sofa, chaise, and ottoman at Big Lots on Easter. We have to rent a Uhaul to pick it up and take our old stuff to the dump and that can't happen until Friday. Taking the car in to the dealership on Tuesday to have the brakes and transmission fluid replaced and also have the alignment done. Went shopping on my day off; got new work pants, some jeans (because I only had one wearable pair), some work shirts, and some new tank tops, though I think I'm going to go back and get different sizes of them. The girl at Maurice's convinced me to get a size medium because that's what she wears (for the record, she cannot squeeze herself into a medium and still have the ability to breathe). I like the tank tops, I just think I should've gone with a large. I mean, my boobs are being pressed against my spinal cord.

Anyway, I also finally bought Microsoft Office Student and Corel Painter Lite. I feel like my laptop is complete now.

My forehead is tingling. Every so often it does that. Maybe Voldemort is around. (I'm not a huge HP fan, but I did see the first movie in theaters.)

Mohs Surgery Recovery: Stitches out!

I actually got my stitches out yesterday, but forgot to write about it. Yesterday was 12 days after the surgery; seems a little weird, but ok. The nurse was impressed with how good the wound looked. One more week of Vaseline, then they gave me this Dr. Blaine scar repair stuff. It's a silicone patch that you stick over the scar for 12 hours. It last up to three months. I'm thinking I'm going to cycle it over all my scars- stretch marks, piercing scars, acne scars, etc. I also have to start massaging the wound on April 14th. Not looking forward to that. It says it will hurt and that's normal. Ick.

Mohs Surgery: Looking better

Getting my stitches out on Tuesday. I think all the puffiness is gone from my face and the stitches don't hurt so much. Still can't make my usual faces.

Chris did laundry last weekend and managed to not wash most of my work clothes. I had to pull out my emergency pants and such. Becka and I hung out yesterday and went to the mall. I bought some shirts at Old Navy; some of my staples shirts have holes in them. I also picked up a pair of jeans there. They are super comfortable. I didn't think I could find a comfy pair of jeans again. Next time I get paid I'm going to have to pick up another pair. I also bought new cami tank tops (for $20/each!) but I might return them to get another size or something different. It rode up on me the whole time we were at the grocery store. Super annoying.

You know what else is annoying? I randomly chose to use H & R Block online to do my taxes, we'll have to wait 4-6 weeks to get our refund because they didn't update their system. I, for one, think they should cut people checks for their refund since it was their stupid fault. Anyway, when we finally get that, I'm going to have to buy Microsoft Office. Blah. It's like super freakin' expensive. I tried asking my advisor at Penn College of Technology if they somehow gave students a discounted version, but he never got back to me. Worst. Advisor. Ever. So thankful I'm done after this semester.

Mohs Surgery Recovery: Days 4, 5, and 6

Well, I'm back to work! Monday, I had some people wondering if it was ok for me to be working. I was still pretty puffy and yellow around the eyes and I actually had quite a bad headache, but I made it. Each day I look more normal, or so my boss says. I discovered last night, however, that I can't make my usual faces. I think I'm making them, but my eyebrows don't move. I can raise them a little, but I can't do my pensive, brooding look. This is me trying:

They had a Safety Pot-Luck Healthy luncheon today and when I went down to get some fruit, some of the MIS (computer) guys gave me weird looks. Do you know how frustrating it is not to be able to make faces back?! I can't make faces at Chris anymore when he says something stupid, either! I end up just closing my eyes a bit and staring at him; does not have the effect I'm looking for.

My stitches are very itchy. I'm also down to my last two band-aids, but down to $.03 in the bank account. We really need to stop spending money on eating out.
