About Me

I was born in Van Wert, OH where my mom taught at a school for the deaf and my dad was a producer/director for a Christian TV station.  We didn't have cable back then, just my dad's station and whatever else we could pick up with the antennae.  I learned to read before I entered kindergarten and my mom was always reading to us.  One of my favorite books is A Child's Garden of Verses, Illustrated by Susan Bonners.  I still own a copy of it and plan on getting tattoos based off the poems and illustrations.

When I was 8, we moved to PA because the TV station laid my dad off and we had family here.  I started my second half of third grade in a private school where no one liked me, and graduated from a different private school as the first Valedictorian.

In 2003, I graduated from beauty school as a nail technician.  In 2011, I graduated from business school with an associate's degree in Health Information Technology.  In the future, I'd like to take more classes and get some kind of English degree; then I'd have schooling in almost everything I love: nails, health, and words.

I've been writing stories since I can remember.  In high school, I wrote a series of books about a girl named Minga Gerald (Gumby fans will recognize the name Minga) and would print them out for my friends.  Reading them now, I realize they're garbage, but it was still fun to write them.  In 2008, I started writing Kayla's Second Chance and, in August of 2011, sent the completed manuscript out to publishers.  In early 2012, I finished Pickway Corners: the Midst, which was started for NaNoWriMo (didn't finish in time to "win", but even now when it's finished it's not 50k words.)  I'm working on sending that out and starting another story Pickway Corners: Paper Train.

On February 14, 2010, I married Christopher Knight at my parents' church in Bedford, PA (no, not that Christopher Knight).  Always inspring me, Chris loves to say, "Hey, remember that book that you never finished?"

Chris and I play various computer and video games regularly.  We both love the TV shows Psych, the Soup, American Horror Story, Tosh.0, World's Dumbest, and others.  We live across the street from my parents, who we rely heavily on, mostly for food.
